Individual Music Therapy
Sessions

Two people in Individual Music Therapy, one playing flute, one at piano

Individual sessions provide personalized, goal-oriented music therapy tailored to each client’s unique needs. Delivered in homes, at schools, virtually, or in other settings, these sessions promote emotional expression, communication, cognitive and motor development, coping skills, and overall well-being.

Why Individual Music Therapy Matters

Unlike group programs or standard interventions, one-on-one music therapy meets clients where they are, offering targeted support that adapts to their abilities, interests, and goals. Sessions provide a safe and meaningful space for emotional expression, confidence-building, and skill development, supporting growth that can be carried into daily life.

Areas of Focus

  • Emotional expression and regulation
  • Communication and social skills
  • Cognitive development and academic support
  • Motor skills and coordination
  • Coping skills and behavioral goals
  • Stress reduction and relaxation
  • Confidence and independence

How Individual Sessions Work

Assessment & Goal Setting

We begin with a clinical evaluation to understand the client's unique needs, strengths, and musical preferences, identifying measurable goals for our work together.

Individualized Session Plan

Every session is custom-designed, utilizing active music-making or receptive listening to address physical, cognitive, and social-emotional objectives.

Evidence-Based Practice

Supported by clinical research, our interventions translate therapeutic musical interactions into meaningful outcomes that carry over into daily life.

Clinical Documentation

We provide consistent tracking and professional documentation of progress, ensuring transparency and data-driven adjustments to care plans.

Professional Standards

Our services are provided by a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) who has completed an approved university program, a 1,200-hour clinical internship, and a national board examination. We adhere to the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) Code of Ethics and the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) Standards of Clinical Practice.

All individual sessions are grounded in evidence-based practice, HIPAA-compliant, and delivered with the highest level of clinical professionalism to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of every client.
